Board a coach bus at 6:45am, and via the “Sun Route” mo- torway, wind through the regions of Lazio and Campania for a picturesque view of the Abbey of Montecassino. Upon arriving in Naples, you will go on a short panoramic city tour before moving on to Pompeii, where you will have lunch in a restaurant and then visit the ruins of the famous Roman city, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Leaving Pompeii, you will drive along the Sorrentine coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner and an overnight in your hotel.
Spend a leisurely day eating breakfast at your hotel and exploring Sorrento, from the cathedral and Corso Italia, the main street of the peninsula, to Piazza Tasso with its nume- rous outdoor cafés. Return to your hotel for dinner and a well-earned night of relaxation.
After breakfast at your hotel, board a boat for the island of Capri at 8:30am. Upon arrival in the port of Marina Grande, you will head over to the mysterious Blue Grotta, which you will enter via rowboat (weather and sea conditions permitting). Enjoy lunch in town and then check in to your new hotel for an overnight stay.
You will have plenty of time after your hotel breakfast to explore the beauty of Capri, sometimes called the “Garden of Eden,” at your own pace. Discover the many shops and restaurants of this wonderful, sunny island or take a swim in the Gulf of Naples. If you’d rather take a day trip, you may book a separate excursion to nearby Anacapri, situated on the slopes of Monte Solario; the port city of Marina Grande; I Faraglioni, three impressive rock structures that have survived many kinds of erosion but yet still protrude grandly out of the sea; or the famous Villa Jovis, a residence built for the emperor Tiberius in the First Century BC. Return to your hotel for one last evening in Capri.
Depart to Sorrento by boat after you fuel up at breakfast. Once on the mainland, you will board a coach bus for Positano, driving along the Amalfi Coast on the most famous road in the Campania region. Once you reach Positano, you will check in to your hotel just in time to venture off on your own for dinner.
See all that Positano has to offer as you set off to explore the ancient fishermen’s village after breakfast. Known for its cubic white houses perched upon cliffs looking over turquoise water, Positano is the most well-known summer resort area on the whole peninsula. Walk to the heart of town on Via Pasitea and weave your way through the city’s narrow streets, terraces, and gardens overlooking the bay. Be sure to buy one of the straw handbags or handmade sandals for which Positano is famous. Return to your hotel for some well-deserved rest.
